Hello from Australia everyone.

My name is Philippa and like a huge number of Australians born in the 1940s I can claim most of my ancestry from the British Isles (with just a little of the unexpected thrown in from elsewhere just to make life interesting).

The family closest to me in time is called Russell and they hail from Bolton, Manchester. Would it be best if I posted to the Lancashire Forum for this family?

I have been very impressed with what I've read so far on these pages and look forward to quite a few exchanges.

Talk soon?

Philippa

Hi Doug, and thanks for that.

Seems I still have to do a lot more wandering around the site before I can say I feel comfortable - and know where I am.

I'll get my information ready and post it to the right spot.

Philippa

Hi Phillipa |wave|
I was also born in the 1940's and in Bolton. I now live in Belmont NSW. That is where the coincidences stop unfortunately, non of our names are the same.
Just reading all the messages on the different forums is enjoyably time consuming even if help isn't needed. Welcome.
Christina

The friendly tone of this forum and the warm welcomes I have received have prompted me to get my act together and post my first query regarding my Russell family.

I've done this on the Manchester and Environs page.

Thank you all for curing me (at least temporarily) of procrastination and spurring me on to do something constructive!!!
