ALFRED FRANCIS

Alfred Francis was the owner of the Swan & Avon, George St, Plymouth and the Crown

& Column, Ker St in the early 1900's. The Swan & Avon is now demolished. I would like to know

who his wife was, when they married, any children and when EXACTLTY he gave over the

ownership of the Crown & Column to William Benjamin Dean. After he left Plymouth he went to

live in a small Hampshire hamlet.

If anyone can give me any information regarding Alfred Francis (believed also to have been in

the RN) I would appreciate it. All info will be going to a descendant in New Zealand.

The 1901 census has Alfred Francis living at this pub. I wonder if you are looking for the father or the son. There are 3 visitors in the house, all seamen.
