Hello, my name is Irene Hall, I'm a New Zealander and new to the site. I'm having difficulty finding my way around - not being a computer geek AND getting a little long in the tooth. All this high tech stuff - grrrrr! Never mind I here to find long lost family - when I figure out how to work the site properly! All my stuff is long distance stuff as the old folk came from the UK and I'm in NZ so I will be yelling for help from time to time. This is just a quick hello, I'll be back once I've got my head around the workings of the site!

Hello Irene, just a quick reply to let you know that you are not the only one from NZ, I am in Auckland and like you all the ancestry is overseas. Happy hunting.

Hello David and Jack,
My GGfather is from Lincolnshire - I think?! I've just found the date of his death now I might be able to find a little more about him. You being in Auckland David, could be useful. Where are you from Jack?
Dunedin is hopeless for finding stuff. It is mostly Otago and very little from the rest of the country. The local library doesn't have a link to the briths Deaths and marriages as far as I can figure out so I have to wait till I go the Wellington to find things in the Archives. A once a year trip!! Why did I move to this part of the country??
Keep in touch boys.
Irene

Hi Irene and Jack,
Pleased to meet both of you. Irene if I can help at all I surely will. I work next door almost to the Auckland City Library and as you probably know they have a fairly extensive genealogical section there. For your information they have an out of town subscription of $90 per annum and this gives you access to their data bases including Ancestry Plus and also some Irish records. You can subscribe online. Their website is www.aucklandcitylibraries.com so you could have a browse and see what is on offer. Wellington may have a similar sort of thing.
I also have relatives in Lincolnshire but not in direct line.
Regards

Hope this is where I answer. Not too sure how to work this . Anyway I live in Ch Ch I haven't done much research in N Z The family have been here since 1867 and I have a record of every relation and have contacted every other Dawber in the country. The worry is that someone immigrates without my knowledge. We have a direct line recorded back to 1696 w the Wellington to find things in the Archives. A once a year trip!! Why did I move to this part of the country??

We have a direct line recorded back to 1696 with a fairly certain line back another 150 years but I still have a lot of work with the various branches.I haven't done much with the maternal side iether. What is most frustrating is that the villages I am most interested in don't feature in directorys Waddingham Grayingham ScotterSnitterby in Nth Lincs and Wellingore sth of Lincoln.I'm happy to help in any way I can.Give me dates and names.
