First off what a thrill to find a comprehensive free site!
My name is cathie joy and I live in Portland,OR, US. I am a dual citizen of the US and UK and am researching my mother's side (English, Irish and possibly Scottish). I have been resarching for over a year and had hit a solid brick wall with my McMurray line until I recently got a message from what turns out to be a 3rd cousin in England.She had some information for me about my GG Grand Father as her GG Grand Father was his brother. Neither of us has been able to find out what town they were born in in Ireland so that is the main thing I am trying to discover right now.
My next step is to see if I can find the family on any immigrant lists to Liverpool. apparently the first child born to the parents of my GG Grand father outside of Ireland was in Lancashire so seems like a strong possibility that they came through Liverpool.
any help is hugely appreciated!
