Hi everyone and really, what an amazing site and what i've seen so far, some amazingly helpful people.|hug|Well a liitle about myself: I have been midly banging my head on this little hobby of mine since the year 2000 and have had lots of successes on the way and I guess like many others have had some real Maiden (HEAD BANGING) moments.
My main objective now is to try and help my Dads side of his tree and that really does concentrate on trying to find some kind of documentation on a care order or fostering agreement of my Grandads.
My Grandads name was John BAILEY but also no to many as 'Will' His army attestation papers documented year of birth as 1887 and born in Ealing but all of my family always said he was younger when he enlisted in the army and thought this to be untrue.
My Grandad who died in 1955 always told his children that he was actually born a BRYANT and thats what there name should have been and that a very early age went to the same school as Charlie Chaplin(Hanwell school for destitute and orphaned children)and visited SYON house on a regular basis where he ws picked up from the school and taken there by a horse drawn carriage. He also told storries of being chaparones by a lady in black when he went to church services whilst in the army , contantly being pestered he said.
Anyway that led me to search the schools records at the L.M.A where there was no sign of John Bailey but in the records showed an entry to the name of (and the only one) WILLIAM JOHN BRYANT bORN 28/4/1888 and admitted 1892 with his sister Mary Ann.
Well it all fitted and after further investigation there where no birth certificates for either of them but marriage certificates of william john bryant and emma julia merrifield in 1885.
WILLIAM JOHN BRYANT died in 1892 at the time my grandad was sent to Hanwell.
He was found drowned in the Grand Union Canel.Todate i cannot find any information regarding this except a death certificate.
Anyway my Grandad was reunited with his mother around 1895 as she was re married and in the 1901 census was living with his brothers and sisters and step father and mother.
Now my Granddads parents or sisters for some reson did not appear in the 1891 census but i did see a john bryant(nurse child) residing with an A LFRED J BAILEY IN EALING(his eventual adaptive parents) .
Now I really hope your still on track you see what im trying to find toprove thid story is a form of documentation that my grandad was who he said he was and at this moment in time my Family especially my Dad would be really grateful for any thoughts or advice.
Really appreciate you reading this very simplified story:confused:
Anyway thats me and me head banging bit have a good day all and look forward to speaking soon.
Best regards
denis
