I am led to believe that my gt. uncle, wasconvicted at the court in Aylesbury, Bucks. of arson or attempted arson of a pub some time in the early 20th century. Where is the best place to try and locate details of this please?

As you are talking early 1900s, I don't know whether these details are covered by the 100 year closure or not. You could try the National Archives to see if there is anything there.

Do you know roughly when the event took place and location? If so you could try the local newspapers, who usually reported on these sort of incident.
