puzzle in Milford

I have an address in Milford of 59 Hopping Hill. From census information given me I know that in
1871 RG10 3578 folio 62 pg 18
MARY BRINDLEY 47 born Belper widow of JOHN BRINDLEY lived there with her family
This includes my great grandfather SAMUEL BRINDLEY b. 1855 Milford.
William 23, George 13, Lydia 10, Emma 8, Anne 4

1851

JOHN BRINDLEY 40 born Duffield lived there with his wife MARY 37 born Belper
children William 14, Harriet 11, George 4, Lydia 9months and his mother LYDIA nee CHADWICK widow of JOHN BRINDLEY. (in 1841 she lived at 2 Hopping Hill).

My thoughts :- can these be the same family even allowing for mistakes .
would anyone be willing to look to see if there is an occupation for JOHN
My greatgreatgrandfather was John BRINDLEY a carpenter. I'd like to try to eliminate some Johns.
Is it possible to find them in 1851?

CLARKE Staveley especially if born in Worcestershire

the second census info you posted you quote as 1851 are you sure it wasn't 1861? It would fit for the same family in 1861 the difference in ages is quite acceptable and Harriet could have married in the ten year gap

Dear Annie

It just shows that someone looking at information with a new eye can spot the possible solution. The information I gave was given me by someone else and I just hadn't noticed the 10 year gap. It's simple when I look again. But I would still like an occuptaion for John. I know my John was a carpenter on his sons marriage certificate in 1881. It does not say he was deceased. So do you know if what I have is enough for a look up on the 1851 census?
