In my derring-do quest to seek out Vallis connections |angel| - I'm looking for household of a Henry Charles Vallis b~1841 and as per 1881 Census he and his wife Julia b~1844 in Wincanton can be found residing @ Higher Shepton, Shepton Montague, Somerset, England
Source RG11/2399 F/5 P/4

I have tried to see where this couple fits in and I cannot find hair nor hide of them anywhere prior to 1881.

Note that there is also a Henry Charles Vallis b 1842 in Sherborne s.o. John Vallis and who with his wife Sarah moved to Evesham Worc. and had a whole pile of children - those I have tracked from 1871 through to 1901....and it's not the same Henry (unless I'm missing something or he's a bigamist).
So if SKS could assist this clod here |nopity| to unearth some possible avenues I'd be ever so grateful - and I'll even pass some chocolates around...

To confuse the issue there is yet another Henry Charles Vallis b 1849 Shepton Mallet, who is married to Martha in 1871. At first I thought this was your man, who had been widowed and remarried, but Martha was still around in 1901!

On the 1881 census page you list, he is shown as Henry Vallis, and not Henry Charles Vallis. Since his wife Julia was born Wincanton, he is probably the Henry Vallis who married in June qtr 1871 at Wincanton, Vol.5c, pg.833. The marriage certificate should have his father's name and occupation, and might help solve your problem.
