Another brick wall with very firm mortar!

I have a Samuel Postance who according to his military records, was born 1795 in "Astley near Bewdley".

He joined the army when he was 20 in Gosbrooke, Staffordshire and said his occupation was labourer. He became a Grenadier Guard.

Family "rumours" say his father's name might have been Thomas (who supposedly was a minister) but I've found absolutely nothing to give this any credence.

He married (an Irish girl named Katherine) and named his children (in the order that I show their births): John, Sarah, Daniel, James & Honora. He never made it past "private" in 21 yrs, retired from the army with a bad cough and a pension in 1841 and died in Ireland in 1848.

Are there parish records or anything that might help me figure out his parents or siblings?

Thanks
Betsy

Are you still stuck on this?

Do you know what denomination Thomas would have been if he was a minister?
