Hello,

I was hoping someone could help me with my research.
I am currently tyring to fill in some large gaps in a family tree.
I am looking for any details on a Robert Campbell Noble possible DOB 1912
(No information on where he was born) he married either a Ms Branton or a Ms Tripp. Any information would be greatly appreciated, such as confirmation of his date of birth, where he was born, names of his parents and any siblings he may have had.
I am also looking for information on his son Andrew Campbell Noble who may have been born in 1946.
Thank you for your time.

The closest match for the birth I can find 1945-1947 is

Q2 1946 NOBLE Andrew G (Branton) Grimsby 7a 1116

If this looks likely let me know & I will search the GRO indexes for the marriage.

The marriage certificate will give the age of Robert Noble as well as his father's name.

Hi Suedent,

Thank you so much for this information.
It looks like he could be the right one as the birth year i have is 1946 so close enough.
That would be great if you could do that research for me, thanks for your help
Emily

Hi Bo peep,

Thank you for the warm welcome. This is a really good site i am so glad i found it!
I am afraid i have nothing concrete only that he may have lived/come from Newcastle but this could be a total stab in the dark as i have no way of knowing if that is that right Noble.

I've had a look and can't find a marriage between a Robert NOBLE and BRANTON. I searched from 1946 back to 1930.

It's possible that Ms BRANTON married under another name, there is also the possibility that the marriage took place in Scotland (with Cameron as a middle name). There is also the possibility that the record will be in one of the overseas or services indexes given that Andrew was born just after WW2.

My grandmother married under her birth name & then used her step-father's surname when the children were registered.

There is also the possibility that Ms BRANTON had been married before, Andrew's birth certificate may indicate this but it often depends on the person giving the details of the birth to the Registrar.

Noble is certainly a very common surname in the Sunderland/Newcastle area & there is a Robert C NOBLE registered in 1912. To know whether it's your Robert you'd really need to buy the certificate.

Do you know when your Robert died? If it was after 1969 then his date of birth would be given in the GRO death Index.

I think your first step should be to get Andrew's certificate to see if it's the right one & to see what details are given about the parents.

Thank you so much Suedent.
That will be my next step to purchse the Birth Cert.
I think that the Robert you have found is a deifnite match.
I was given the details about him (since you got back to me) from another forum website and they had him down as possibly livng in newcastle, mmn Nixon if that helps?
Also they confirmed the details i already had which is two possibilites for his son which is why i have put that he possibly married a Tripp or a Branton.

Andrew G Noble -1946 June qtr in Grimsby 7a 1116, mmn Branton
or
Andrew J Noble -1946 Dec qtr in Staines 5f 488, mmn Tripp

I don't know if this makes things clearer, or more confusing!
