I am looking for information on The Tibet Mission 1903-04. My grandfather Daniel Harvey was there serving with the Royal Fusiliers. He was awarded The Tibet with clasp Gyantse. I would welcome any information or directions to a good web page.

regards

Terry

If you go to http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=&scope=books and do a search for "Tibet Mission" you can read the whole of the book 'India & Tibet' by Francis Edward Younghusband, who led the expedition. Also another book on the topic by William John Ottley.

A simple Google search will also give you plenty of general material, pictures of the medal, etc.

Thanks to you both.
I have had a brief read and regardless of the political issues I can only think how difficult it would have been to adapt to fighting in Tibet, and what a great name Major Francis Younghusband

thanks again

Only 4 companies of the 1st Btn Royal Fusiliers were involved.

The regimental museum might be a good source of info.
