Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows of any recent new websites regarding lists of wrens in service during WW2?
Also I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this but i'll try anyway my grandparents met during WW2 both we believed based in London, and therefore it's assumed they married in London I just wanted to ask if anyone knows where is the most likely place they would have had a Roman Catholic ceremony?

You need to get the marriage certificate.

Again thank you, but I can't order a certificate as I need the year of the marriage and I don't know it and neither does anyone in my family; therefore I wondered if there was a particular place they would have got married in order to find the year.

You search the GRO indexes for the marriage, note the details including the reference numbers and use those to order the certificate.
The GRO indexes can be searched free at the Family Records Centre (but hurry;)) or at many County Record Offices and main libraries. They are also available online at various sites (not free)

London is a mighty big place with lots of RC churches.
However, if you give their names and what information you do know, I am sure someone will have a look for the marriage.
We like a challenge here:D

The best way to help is to make sure the poster knows how to do it. There's no indication of any difficulty except that she or he doesn't know how do it.

Hello, yes i realise that and it's an complete needle in a haystack lol, but I just wondered would it would have been possible to be married where they were stationed? As that seems more feasible. I'm looking for a Francis John Harris and a Violet Joyce Tate married between 1939 to 1942.
Thank You

Okay, I'll have a look thank you, but they seem so elusive it would be a miracle if I ever end up finding them |laugh1|

Good. I'm glad you're getting down to it.
Just to save you a bit of time, I'll give you a clue. Look in the June quarter of 1941. And it wasn't in London |biggrin|.

You beat me to it! I was going to hint at an area where Navy personnel have been know to congregate at that time (and to a lesser extent still do)!

Oh my golly gosh i'm pretty impressed at how quick you have done that i've been searching forever. Hmm that leaves what Devonport or Portsmouth? I'm off to search places then again compared to my track record already I bet I don't find them |laugh1| Thanks

Are you doing what we've advised you to do which is search the GRO indexes?
You don't search by place. You work your way through each quarter looking at names. When you've found the names you want, the registration district will reveal itself.
Now that you've found http://www.findmypast.com/ you can do that. I've told which quarter to look in so it won't take you very long. You'll need to do the same sort of thing over and over again for different ancestors.
