I was wondering if anyone might have more luck finding the family members that seem to behiding somewhere in the 1861 census. I might just be lind but I am definately stuck.

I am looking for Henry William Branton born 26th Sept 1856 to harriet Branton in Shoreditch. According to henry's birth cert, there is no dad. I can not find a marriage either before the birth of henry or after that can be a match.

In the 1861 census I ahve found a Henery William BrUnton with a mother Harriet but the other info does not match. The date born for Henery is 1852 in Norfolk and I found a lisiting in the BDM for the same name same place. The marriage of Harriet BrUnton seems correct as well. And to top it off this family have older siblings to Henery. I do not feel they are the correct family.

There is another Hnery listed in the 1861 census with a mother and father listed as Mary Ann and George. Henry is the right age but the mothers name is incorrect.

I have checked to see if perhaps Harriet Branton might have died and Henry went to a fmaily member but I can not find this either.

Would someone like to have a look...I am going a bit nutty!

Thanks Jo

Don't forget he may just be missing because that part of the census has not survived.

This shows the missing pieces - would you expect him to be in any of these areas?

I will bet the English's chances of winning the rugby world cup on the fact that the family I am looking for are in this missing bit:
145 Middlesex Islington Islington East (2) Islington M

PS Yes I cried watching the rugby last night. The Wallabies played terribly!
