|banghead|I am reasonably new to researching my tree.

and after having done so well - have come up several stops.

I am looking for the boag family, originated from couper angus, in 1721 it appears to be spelt as buack - It would seem that I am related to robert boag, lived in belfast and wrote the lexicon.

I have discovered that I am related to margaret boag who was accused of murder - is says she was sent overseas, I cannot find any more details of her and what happened to her.

I am also looking for details of a man in brixton prison in august 1950 he has written his name as either J or I morris, but the surname is definately morris - I cannot find out what crime he was there for - I believe he had mental health problems.

on the other sides of the family are Hogg, townsend and beattie - also a fairfax who was a gi in the war.

and finally does anyone know where I can find the details of the womens fire service and people who had been in the services.

lastly a walter penney /penny sept 1868 - no father listed, born in redbourne st albans, then the family was linked to a mary penney/penny in paddington and marlow

as you can see I only have a couple of stumbling blocks

Hi

I have an extract from a newspaper detailling the trial of Margaret Boag, accused of murder but found guilty of theft only and sentenced to transportation.

If you still need such details let me know.

Hi Nannie
Lots of people in your post.
The man who was in prison 1950 could still be alive. We have to be careful with this research as not to offend him or living relatives.

Regards
Georgie

I think I may already have the same article - I was hoping to find out more about the transportation, I know there are boag's in australia I wondered if there was a link

Hi Nanny

I have somewhere details of the ship (I think the Henry) in which Margaret was transported - if you don't have a copy let me know and I will try to dig it out for you.

I have these details as I thought there may be a connection as I am researching Boags from Monkland, Lanarkshire. I have James Boag, born May 1807 in Strathbrook, who married Jane Nielson. James' father was John who, I think, married Margaret Williamson. I am completely stuck after that and any help would be gratefully accepted.

sorry for not getting back - not been well, better now though

I would be greatful for details of Margaret and the ship if you still have them.

I am not sure that your james is linked - a large portion of my tree just shows number of children - not details etc.

I have a james born in 1803 - father was rev john boag b 1775

john has a brother william boag b 1771 - william is said to have had a son in australia and a daughter in the usa, but I have not been able to track them down

bye for now
