Funnell - Buxted?

I am looking for parents of George Funnell born c1834 in Buxted (according to the 1871 census).

He married Elizabeth Gower from Tunbridge Wells in 1855 by which time he was living there. Their son Stephen b1861 is my gg-grandfather.

I have just received their marriage cert and George's father was George as well - a sawyer.

There is a George Funnell on the 1851 census sample on Ancestry aged 18 born in Buxted but he has left home by then and is living in Kent.

Neither George seems to be on the IGI.

Anyone out there tracing this line as well?

The Sussex Family History Group have a baptismal Index. It is always worth looking at local family history societies as they have a wealth of information.
