St Austell - Sedgemoor Priory

Does anyone know anything about Sedgemoor Priory in St Austell?

My great grandmother died there 5 Mar 1949, the year after it became a geriatric hospital.
I've had a look and the records at the CRO just seem to cover the period when it was the workhouse.

Does anyone know if any records exist from the period as a hospital?

Where in St Austell was it? I've had a look but the workhouse website doesn't show a large enough map to work out where it was - apart from next to the railway line.

I think you'd have to approach the right bit of the NHS (whatever the right bit is) for any clinical records. I think they're normally destroyed after 25 years.

tracking down the right bit of the NHS might be fun, I've lost track of how many re-organizations there have been over the past 20 years alone! I fear that even if the records hadn't been destroyed they may well have got lost along the way. I'll certainly give it a go though.

Thanks for the link, I'll certainly email them. I need to visit them sometime in the future anyway. There's an 1893 inquest I need to look for. Normally I'd check the Cornish Times when I'm in Liskeard but as the death took place in St Mabyn I think I'd have more luck with the West Briton.
