Hi can any one help please i found a reunion programe of my grandads saying 699 A.W.COY.R.E. can anone help with what this is thanx Dave

I think it may have been an anti-tank regiment at least that's what other A.W.COY.R.Es. are. Not sure about the number though.

I would have though that Coy = Company and R.E. = Royal Engineers. Might be worth contacting them http://www.remuseum.org.uk/index.htm

Artisan Works Company, Royal Engineers (construction duties mainly, I believe)

I found his service number (Sapper no1920964 R.E)it was royaly engineers but how would i find out what regiment/unit he was in thanx eneryone for your help on this :)

I believe I have already given you the answer to this. He was in the 699th Artisan Works Company.

If you want any more, you'll have to write off for his records.
