Hi, I'm not exactly doing a ONS, started researching my male line, then realised thats only half the story, so also researching all female lines as well - files are massive. Over the years I have gathered lots of Perry data, from all over UK and Ireland, have not managed to join up all the dots yet, but all this info must relate to some branch of the family - someone might be looking for it. I thought that if we pool our data we must get a better overview of the Perry tribe.
For example, I know there is a bronze statue at Tipton of my namesake, only nicknamed "The Tipton Slasher", who was a famous bare knuckle boxer, and his family had connections with barge people and also publicans.

Hi Reynard,
I would like to put together my part of the Perry family but unfortunately I know nothing about them. I know my G/G grandfathers name is James Perry Exton and his fathers name is James Perry from Deanthorpe. I know his mothers name is Jane Exton from Witham. On my Jame's marriage certificate it indicates his fathers name as James Exton, Brickmaker from Intake. On his 2nd marriage certificate it says father unknown and mothers maiden name is Jane Perry deceased. On his death certificate there is no name of father and mothers name as Jane Cooley. My James was born in the Rutland Shire of Sheffield. I can't help you any more so hopefully you might be able to help me. thanks Jan.

Hi Reynard,
I am looking for my grandfather whose name was ALFRED EDWARD PERREY.
He came from Warrington, Lancashire.
Born 20 Oct 1871 in ?Warrington, Lancs
Died 14 Feb 1954 in Pretoria, /south /africa
Married MARGARET CUTBUSH MEEK in Johannesburg (no date of birth for her or marriage date)
Issue:
ROWLAND EDWARD PERREY
Born 21 May 1910 in Johannesburg, South Africa
Died 12 Sept 1984 in South Africa
VEE (PERREY) CHRISTIANE
Born 18 Nov 1911 in Johannesburg, South Africa
Died 15 May 2008 in Pretoria, South Africa
The unusual spelling of Perrey only came to light when I was going through my Mothers paperwork and I found an old letter to the BMD office complaining about the mis-spelling.
Hope your research has captured my family. Its very difficult to get information of South African families. Their Archives are almost a no go area.
Regards,
Golly

My Perrys come from Shropshire in the Church Stretton area, Wistanstow, Leamor Common in the 1800's but my 3rd gt grandfather William Perry was born in Leintwardine, Herefordshire and must have been a soldier as on the 1841 and 1851 census in Shropshire it says he was a Chelsea Pensioner and his wife Sarah was born in London, my 2nd gt grandfather Charles was born in London but the family moved back to Herefordshire and then Shropshire, Charles children ended up all over the UK with my line in Manchester but Charles daughter Lucretia married a William Saunders on the Isle Of Wight. Charles married Jane Groves from Hopesay. Well if anyone has any Perry ancestors from these areas I would love to hear from you.

Hi everybody,
I have just found out in the last week that my James Perry who is the father to my James Perry Exton my great great grandfather never married married James's mother Jane Exton, apparently she married a Henry Kirby Cooley about ten years after my James Perry Exton was born. I would still like to find my James Perry who is still my GGG Grandfather. I also have another name to look up now which is Henry Kirby Cooley.
Thanks Jan Bednarz|scold|

I cannot find my grandfather ALFRED EDWARD PERREY (note the spelling) from WARRINGTON, LANCS. Born 20 Oct 1871 in WARRINGTON, LANCS.
Died 14 Feb 1954 in Pretoria, South Africa
Issue:
ROWLAND EDWARD PERREY Born 21 May 1910 in JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA
VEE (PERREY) CHRISTIANE Born 18 Nov 1911 in JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA
Have looked everywhere I can think. Perhaps he was born just out of WARRINGTON.
He was a piano tuner.

Hi, i have some Perrys from shropshire/herefordshire. William Perry married a sarah from Middlesex. 1861 census says William was a chelsea pensioner so would be really interested to know any army history of him. I descend from his son Charles Perry who married Janes Groves.

I have just received the following in my mailbox.
Unfortunately, I am not connected to your Perry family. My family spell their name PERREY and come from WARRINGTON.
Good luck with your continued search

There are Perrys in my family tree as well. William Alfred Perry (1862-1942) married my grand aunt, Sophia Louisa Duke (1864-1947) in Montreal in 1885. Although he was born in Montreal, it seems likely that his father, also named William, came to Canada from somewhere in Britain, but I haven't yet pursued this line of inquiry.

Hi all, I have had to shelve the PERREY search for the time being. I am on the trail of another branch of my family, but will return to B-G Forums asap.
Thanks for your replies.

HGT PERRY:
Parents: Samuel Perry and Annie (Ward).
Siblings: (here is a list of what I do have, he may have had more, and I don't know anything more than the initials of the sisters listed here): Major Sam E. Perry, Mrs A. Beer, Mrs P. Wright and Mrs W. Haggar.
Perry Married Florence Smith, and they had two sons: Frank (later Judge Perry of Prince George) and Sidney.
Henry's nephew was Sam Beer. There is also mention of a Baby John (age 3 in 1957) in photos with his family - not sure if that means they are Baby John his Henry's brother or and aunt or uncles' son. Other names mentioned, but I have no link for, in the family photos are: Marian, Ella Beer, Christine *age 15 mos in 1957)
Also Harry's father and brother, Mr. S. E. Perry,of Whitwick, were both formerly members of the Coalville Urban Council, and Mr. S. E. Perry was a member of the National Executive of the British Legion.
Perry's nephew John E Perry was killed with the 8th army in Tunisia sometime in the 1940s.
