PUNYER is an interesting name. It appears to be a uniquely Kentish surname. In the 1881 census 60% of the PUNYERs are in the district of the East Ashford Poor Law Union (registration district). But then there are only 40 of them so we must be cautious about drawing too many conclusions.
A good candidate for a one-name study, perhaps?
