Robert George TURNER

Looking for information on Robert George TURNER, born Plymouth 1865, and married Elizabeth Soper, nee Adams (b 1865) of Brixham 12 Jan 1890.
They had five children:
Lavinia b 1890, Elsie Ann b 1891, Robert George b 1893 (my grandfather), James b 1899 and Beatrice Alice b 1903. They were all born in Brixham. Elizabeth already had a daughter, Ida b 1884 from a previous marriage to Nicholas Soper.

Did Robert George TURNER have siblings, and who were his parents? Does anyone have any information please?

There are 2 Roberts Turners on the 1881 census both born Plymouth.

Wifes name is different could be down as mistranscribing

Thanks for your information. I have received the marriage certificate I sent for, for Robert Turner and Elizabeth Soper. The father of Robert George is listed as Robert Turner, occupation unknown, so I think the boy cook on the "Primrose" on the 1881 census is probably the one.

Also I have a couple of amendments to my original post.

Elizabeth Soper was aged 27 on the certificate so her birthdate was 1862/3, and Lavinia was registered as Lizzie Lavinia and she was born 6 Aug 1889 and died Sept 1985.

I've had a look at the 1871 census & this might be your Robert

Robert Turner Pauper 7 Plymouth, Devon
Plymouth Workhouse, Charles, Plymouth, Devon
RG10/2116 Folio 118 Page 23 Sched 1

The only other Robert of the same aprroximate age born in Plymouth was the son of John & Eliza.

If he was alone in the workhouse at such a young age it might explain why he didn't know his father's occupation.
