Thank you for the info. I am trying desperately to get info on my maternal grandfather who served with the Manchester Police, back in the 1900's I believe. He reached the rank of Inspector and was in a mounted division. His name was James Christopher Lorinson. I know he existed because I spent my summer holidays with him and Gran but getting any info is very difficult.
I have now written to the GMP and await a reply.
