My grandfather John Leary was born October 1885.The farm name was Bracaragh (sometimes spelt Brakara), in the district of Darrynane,Caherciveen. His parents were John and Mary Leary nee Mcgillycuddy. If anyone out there has any info regarding either the Leary branch or the Mcgillycuddy branch I would be really grateful.
I've been told that the LDS have census records for that area but unfortunately my local LDS Temple has been closed whenever I have visited.
Would any other body have these records?

Hi
Have you looked at the birth records the Darrynane area. Some are on line here and mention the names you are intereted in http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~irlker/birthkilcr.html
You may also find it useful to look at the free site for Griffiths valuation at http://griffiths.askaboutireland.ie/gv4/gv_start.php
This is the census substitute for Ireland for the mid 19th century.

Many thanks for the feedback ...since I posted that entry I've gone a lot further forward.....|jumphappy
The Co.Kerry pages you referred me to can be a great source of info, but, unfortunately for me they had the wrong townland.
Still working on bits though.....Irelands limited records are a bug bear for everyone |soapbox|

Hiya folks |wave| remember that the O'leary clan has a DNA project which is ongoing.
If you are interested then you can get more info by visiting the O'Leary clan website, it may help to knock down some of those brickwalls|banghead|
