In the course of my research i have only come across 1 brickwall but i over come it and i am glad i did.
Here are 2 stories that i hope will encourage people in their "brickwall" days

1,
I started my research because of one name....Edward. In 2003 my great nana moved. I found a grave reference number of her parents and decided to visit them. After a LONNNGG search i found it but rather then seeing the name John (her father) i saw Edward??? Once i cleared the **** off the stone i had a faint date and the world "son" So i went on the net. I had a feeling this person was killed in the war so i searched on CWGC and i found him.............a brother my great nana never mentioned. He died in WW2. I then went to my closet War memorial and there his name was. I was so proud and my mum was shocked:D

2,
My brickwall was overcome.|banghead|--->|computer|---->:D
My grandfather never knew his real dad. My dad and his brother had no idea about him. Noone i spoke to knew anything about him. My first thought was ARGGGHHH. How the hell am i going to do this? But then it came to me......birth certifcate.
I know when you apply for one you have to put the parents names. But i had no idea about his name and no idea about his mothers maiden name. So i sweet talked a lady at the registery office. She searched and found it. In days i had the certifcate and blow me........his fathers name was the same as his.
So i got my grandads parents names, where they lived and an added bonus.........his fathers ARMY number. I searched that number and found he was a Sgt and he had some medals. Bonus

So chin up everyone. There is a way of finding things. Smile nicely to the people that matter is a good tip
