Hello, can anyone help me at all? I had a Great Aunt, Ellen L.P. Steadman (b. 1904 in Sevenoaks, Kent) who departed England for Australia on the ship Sophocles 5 November 1924 bound for Albany Western Aus. I know that she married in 1932 to I think William F Hill in Blackwood but after that I am unable to find any further information. Any tips would be good, thanks, regards,

You might try Post Office Directories - find them online here http://www.slwa.wa.gov.au/pdf/battye/pods/Post_Office_Directories_Contents.html


The Battye Library probably has an online guide to researching people in WA - or try the West Australian Genealogical Society website for some clues.

Thanks for that info Lenore, to my disgust I find that she married in Blackwood which when I checked is a suburb of Adelaide not Victoria so I am an idiot with a poor sense of geography! Sue.
