George Edward GARNER born between 1853-1860 according to legal documents. Supposedly changed his name from GARNER to GARDNER when he became a Jockey in England.
Parents names given on his Death Notice in South Africa: John and FANNY GARDNER.
Discrepancies in ages given and no birth place in Engalnd known. George married in Somerset East in the Eastern Cape, South Africa in 1886, Amy Getrude HEWITT. In 1886 he is a Groom.
In 1886 his age is 27 years.
In 1895 his age is 35 years.
In 1942 his age at death is given as 88 years and nine months.
His employment card for the De Beer's Compnay in Kimberley gives his date of birth as 6 November 1857.
During the First World War he was part of the South African Veteran's Regiment.
