Ed, thank you so much for these links.......I just ran down the links and stopped at the Kent line and clicked on one for Baptisms/Marriages/Deaths, and randomly clicked on a letter, which happened to be `L' and up came a list of Ladd which was my mother's name! What do you know......there's several in the 1600/1700's living in the same village, so it's possible that I've struck gold!! I haven't attempted to look back so far, as I've been concentrating on other lines as well, but now??!! Thanks again, you've set me up on yet another trail. |hug|

Thanks for the link to the Tower Hamlets site, some great articles there & they bring to life the area where my husband's ancestors lived. In 1881 his great-grandparents were living in Fashion Street, in what was to become Jack the Ripper territory.

I particularly enjoyed "An Autumn Evening in Whitechapel"

This site, is to me, absolutely fascinating to read the journal about streets where my ancestors lived in London. Maybe not the easiest to navigate but to those researching Middlesex and the East End it is a must.

However, what I really want is to find a clear map of London Parishes which is legible when printed if anyone can help.

Anna the map is difficult because the area kept changing. Also, there are ecclesiastical parishes and civil parishes. You might try the following sites for an explanation.
