Help to find John Sumpter Povah

Hi all
I hope some one may be able to help me, I am looking fo John Sumpter Povah, he was born in England 1824, I belive his parents were Peter and Elizabeth Povah.
I have no idia when he left England, for Canada, all I know is that he was married to Catherine Scott in Holton, Ontario, on 11 Dec 1858.
Was there a census in Canada for 1861 and 1871 ?
As I do not find him again untill the 1881 census, for Winnipeg, Selkirk, Manatoba, he is a carpenter, and living with a new wife alot younger than himself they have 5 children. I can not find a death for Catherine, or a marriage to Mary Jane Galvin the new wife, I found her maiden name with the birth of 2 of the children.
I would really appreciate any help you can give to find John on a Passenger list, Catherine death, or John marriage to mary. or help with websites were I may find information for Canada, as I really do not know were to look.

The IGI also has this extracted marriage
Peter Povah married Elizabeth Sumpter 20 July 1821 at Saint Luke, Old Charlton, Kent, England.

John Povah & Catherine Scott were married in Halton County, Ontario. If you would like deatils, just repost. The 1861 census is only available online is some areas, unfortunately not the right ones. The 1871 is on line (Heads of households only) at
http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/index-e.html You will find John listed as John S Pavah and living in Hamilton (Wentworth County, next to Halton), a carpenter. The full 1871 census is currently being transcribed the Familysearch indexing project.
