Hi Victoria,

these Gough/Goff's are from my husbands family, and no, sorry; no Edward's in sight. They were all Ag Labs or gardeners in and around Leatherhead and Dorking until the 1890's, when a couple of them ventured up to London.

Thank you Mark, isn't it exciting???

Barry, which of Emmelines children are you descended from? I've posted several times about the Phair's and the Phillip's on this forum, and got lots of help, but I'm still stuck on some things as you'll see. If you type Phair into the search box, you can read through all the information, and let me know how it compares with what you've got.

If you do that for starters, then get back to me, .... in the meantime I'm going to bed!! Its gone half past one in the morning here, but I've had an exciting evening one way and another!

Welcome to the forum anyway, and welcome to the family!!

cheers birdlip

Hi Birdlip
I Have read through the Phair's forum. I cannot add much to the Irish part, except that I have always been informed that a great number of records were destroyed by fire in 1922 by IRA.

I do have Joseph Phair in the 1851 census (HO/107/1479 305). 67 St Peter Street, Westminster with Mary and family: Richard and Sarah.

James Edward Phair/ Emmenline Goddard had 6 children, my gandmother was Edith Emily Phair b. 3 Dec 1880

I have a copy of the will of Emeline (Emma) Goddard in which she make Emeline Phair an executor.

I was for a few years, until his death, incontact with Arthur Edward James Phair - the son of Harry Edward Phair - a very kind and helpful man who gave me a lot of info. His part of the family I call 'The Bankers' as they were all in the banking industry

I have a wedding photo of the marriage of Donald JAMES & Gladys PHAIR 0n the 14 May 1925 at Clapton, London, showing a majority of the Phair family.

I have George Goddard with wife Emily Phillips in the Censu 1851 Westminster HO 107/1479

Thats enough for now.

Bye

Barry J:)

Thanks for that Barry,

Arthur Edward James was my Uncle, mum's older brother. I have several bmd's and other records that would interest you I think, though not many photos, and no wills at all, so I'd be very interested to see a copy of the will and the wedding photo you have. I'm going to send you a private message with my email address, so we can swap information more easily. I'd better organise some breakfast first though....

Thanks Wendy, yes, its amazing when it all comes together isn't it?

kevynne.... my Kirsop(p)s came from Simonburn, which is only a couple of miles North of Hexham. I bet there's a link there somewhere. Thomasin Kirsop (isn't it a wonderful name?) was my g g grandmother. She was born at Simonburn in 1819, the youngest child of John and Jane Kirsop, nee Forster, who married there in 1795. Your Mary could be a sister or cousin of Johns.
