Hi Victoria,
What part of London do your Jones come from?
I have an Edward Jones, born Denbighshire Wales, Scalemaker, with wife Eliza Bermingham, married 1830. Children Thomas, Eliza, Maria and Elizabeth all born around Chelsea.
This is probably a long shot........there couldn't be a worse name to research could there? Unless perhaps `Smith'. :)

One of my brickwalls is a Jones too so I can sympathise.
William Jones pops up in Cornwall, in the 1841 census he is noted as born out of County, as one of his children has the middle name Pritchard I suspect there might be a Welsh connection. A William Jones born about 1784 - not going to be many of them are there!!

Sorry Brian.....you are quite right! My sister married a Williams, and we've had a devil of a job going back with that as well.

It's annoying when they used the same christian names all the time....you think they could have been original and picked something that would stick out for us wouldn't you! ;)

I have a very long line of Richard Hills. For centuries, the ONLY name in the male direct line is Richard. After that, there are two possibilities for the next man - a John and a Richard. My instincts say Richard but it must end somewhere, right?
