View Full Version : Launceston - Martin and Bray families

Hi,

I am looking for someone to help me find the births of John Martin and Mary Bray. Unfortunately, I am told by fellow ressearchers that these names are "common" to the Launceston area, just my luck!!

The only information I have, has been taken from the census returns. John Martin born in Launceston, born 1806/7. John died in Launceston in the September quarter of 1874, aged 68. Mary Martin (nee Bray) according to the 1841 census, says she was born in Lanteglos, although in other census's she says Launceston! Mary died in Launceston in the September quarter of 1897, aged 86, so born 1810/11.

Can anyone have a look at these parish records for me next time they visit the county records office please.

Hi Carol

Mary Bray is from our extended Bray family. Her parents were William Bray and Esther Barber. She was born in Lanteglos in 1810. John Martin and Mary had six children, they were John, Kate, George, William, Ellen and Adah. they were born between 1839 and 1848-some of them at Lanteglos. I've found her brother William's family in the USA-she also had brothers John, James and Jonathan and a sister Elizabeth. I hope you find this, i have a lot on the extended family.
