Can anyone help me to decipher the cause of death on the death certificate of my gt gt grandfather's second wife?

All I can make out is; Cancer of ............ doubtful Ascites ...........

It is probably blindingly obvious :o

Cancer of Omentum
doubtful
Ascitis [but my dictionary agrees with your "Ascites" spelling]
Bilious [followed by what I *guess* is some sort of abbreviation?]

Medically ignorant, so I won't speculate on what the abbreviation might be for.

Thanks Myth, I think you've cracked it - all to do with the stomach, liver, intestines.......sounds pretty awful :(

I can't get the link to work, but ascites is a build-up of fluid in the abdomen. On of the possible causes is cancer. Nowadays it can be "tapped" to reduce the discomfort. Not nice!
