If anybody has a Slaters or similar would they be good enough to look up a George Cooper probably in Darlington. I believe both he and his father who was possibly George William Hinkley Cooper were both jewellers/watchmakers.

Try www.historicaldirectories.org - they have many directories available to search from at least the 1840s onwards.

Sorry, on Alfred's marriage certifcate dated 1887 he is listed with the above occupation. I have reason to believe his father's occupation was the same. Could a search between 1850 and 1900 be undertaken. Many thanks
