I am looking to find and date an article in the Daily Telegraph titled "Dethroning Shakespeare". It was written in 1887 but there is no indication on the day and date of the article.

If anyone has access to this paper's archives I would be pleased to know what the full date is. The paper was found in some old books that we purchased of Shakepeares works.

Kindest regards
Narelle

This page (http://opac.ub.uni-weimar.de/DB=2/SET=90/TTL=31/CMD?ACT=SRCHA&IKT=1016&SRT=YOP&TRM=dethroning) (in German, but never mind) seems to suggest that you need to start with the 26 November issue.

Incidentally...
Anmerkung: Aus: Daily Telegraph ; (1887), 26. Nov. ff.
In: Daily Telegraph ; (1887), 26. Nov. ff.

"Anmerkung" basically means "comment" - probably used here in the sense of "Citation" or "Source" I would think.
As this is followed by "Aus", which I assume means "Australia", and you are in Australia, if you're looking for volunteers, it might be an idea to let us know which of umpteen newspapers around the world called the "Daily Telegraph" you are referring to!

From the British Newspaper Library online catalogue, apart from the well-known English (London) paper, if it is Australia that you are referring to, I see that there's one in Melbourne, one in Launceston (Tasmania), and one in Sydney, all pre-1887.

But, then again, as it's German, maybe not - it could be the German word "aus" meaning that this is what they got it from, so it could be *any* Daily Telegraph.

I'm sure it's Aus meaning from.

Hello Mythology,
Sorry my mistake, I took for granted seeing this is a British forum and Shakespeare was from England that it was given that I was referring to the Daily telegraph in England. Yes I am in Australia and would not bother people in this forum with an Australian question. I will take more care with my enquiries in future.
Many thanks for your assistance
