Hi
I am new to this if anyone can help would appreciate.
My Great Grandfather George Newton served as a soldier with the Dragoon Guards 3rd in South Africa Cape Colony he was a sergent in this regiment his Reg number is 2681 He died in South Africa in 1904 of illness rather than battle we think, he is burried at Harrismith S/A.
He was married in 1897 in Sussex to Sarah Jane and they had children 5 one we know was born at the Curragh Camp in 1900. Cant find birh regestations for any of them. Where will I find these.
Also death record on Find my Past states his death number as AB114 for Dragoon Guards where do I find this.
He also had medal with 4 bars.
I have been to Kew without luck in finding anything out any help would be great.
Thanks
Vally

You indicate that you've already used the 'find my past' web-site - have you searched this for:

Army Births Indices 1881-1965
Regimental Registers of Births 1761-1924
Supplement to Regimental Registers of Birth 1761-1924

To search these on 'find my past', select 'births, marriages and deaths' then 'overseas records'

Also death record on Find my Past states his death number as AB114 for Dragoon Guards where do I find this.
What record is this from on 'findmypast'? -e.g. is it from GRO army death indices 1881-1955? - or from some other record (the type of record you look at is shown at the top of each page that you display).

The reference will be to the original record in which the entry of death is recorded, you should still be able to order a copy of the death certificate from the GRO, quoting what is recorded in the entry.
