First Royal Guards

I have a Parochial register copy for Dryfesdale Dumfries 1845 recording the marriage of George Colligan of the First Royal guards. Can any one tell me anything about this regiment, Is this the Scots Guard or ???? and can I get any information about him with regard to the regiment as he is not on any census after 1851 which lists him as a house breaker.

If by "First Royal Guards" it means the First Foot Guards, then they're the Grenadiers. Scots Guards were the 3rd Foot Guards.
