I am looking for a needle in a haystack I think. I have no maiden name for a Ann Pettit (t) who married a Moses Pettitt from Essex and can only find her from 1861 census living in Essex although recorded as Pellett but birthplace on different census years says birthplace Scotland, Glasgow and Lanarkshire she had a son James Pettitt on 1861 and 1871 census record his birthplace as Scotland and after 1881 record it as North Weald, Essex where he was residing and I cannot find Moses Pettitt before 1861 either so I am wondering if Moses moved to Scotland before 1861 or did Ann move to Essex and even was James son of Moses despite surname being Pettitt.
If anyone has access to Scottish census please could they look up any of these Names James would have been born 1845-1847 approx. I have no maiden name to follow or if I could find a marriage entry of birth would help.
I have tried Scotlandpeople.gov but to no avail but then the name may be not recorded correctly.
