Has anyone come across the (first)name Whitenight/Wightnight/Witenight?
A Whitenight Franklin SMITH b 05/1819 in the Bridport? area... son of Joseph and Sarah Smith.

Very unusual name. Any ideas where it came from?

He became a journeyman tailor in London/ Leis Sq area. and d. 1904. Believe he had a sis Ann Franklin S b. 10/1921 and a bro John b. 1826.

Any ideas/ traces?

Don MNo, I've never come across a first name like that before. It must be a family surname. Have you noticed that there is a Franklin Whitenight SMITH in the BMD records born about 1820, died 1904 in Lewisham? Is this the same person? If so, seems curious that his sister also had a middle name of Franklin.
