Doe anyone have information on this company.Were they ship builders?

Try Googling. I found quite a lot of information about the Sunderland shipyards on the net. There was also a site for ex sailors on specific ships. This was a while ago and I can't remember the exact sites, but if I can find it so can you :) . The Durham archives people were very helpful when I was looking for info about the shipyard where my gtgrandfather was the manager. I would imagine you would get the same help from Newcastle.
