Hi,
Looking for any information re: SPRANKLIN(g). Charles Sprankling AM was chief boatman in the Coastguard receiving the Albert Medal in 1867 for 'saving life at sea'. According to the book "Coastguard! An official history of HM Coastguard" by William WEBB, " Charles SPRANKLIN of Burton Bradstock, Dorset received his medal for swimming out in a heavy sea to save the crew of a fishing boat." He was married to Margaret McMullen and they had 5 children, Neal Charles, Thomas, Margaret, Canon James Hugh CBE (Douai Abbey), and Mary. Neal Charles left Britain in approx. 1855 arriving in Australia some time later. Death registered as Neil Charles Spranklin 14/3/1929.
All information greatly appreciated.
Cheers
