There's a good Norfolk name - sorry no connection - but are you stuck at any particular point? Which branch of the family?
The Norfolk Transcription Archive http://www.genealogy.doun.org/transcriptions/index.php
has a few hundred entries for all the variant spellings - JE(C)K(K)(E)(S) and JEX(X)(E)

hi
are yu still looking for information about the jexes of norfolk.
i do not know whether this will help but a cousin on my husbands side was married too a jex. her name was amelia jex and her family originated from swanton morley, in norfolk.
her father was robert jex born in wendling, norfolk, in the year 1822. he married his wife a susan harris who was from swanton morley. they had 9 children between them.
roberts parents were john jex born in 1797 and his wife was mary large. she was born in the year 1794.
if this sounds a possible match let me know and i can give you more info if you would like it.

Thank you for solving a problem for me.
My Great Great Grandmother was Harriet Jex Dye born in Gt. Yarmouth in 1839.
Having never heard the name before I thought it must be a mistake in the transcription but I guess somewhere along her Mother's or Father's line there were some Jexs'. I haven't researched her ancestry yet but her Mother was Susanna and her father William Dye both from Great Yarmouth. I will check and see if her mother was a Jex.
Thanks again
Tricia

my Great Granfather a William Jex was born in Holbeach Norfolk in 1880s i dont have the exact date yet,My Granfather a Alfred William Jex Born in 1909 in Holbeach Norfolk he died in 1980
Holbeach is actually in Lincolnshire rather than Norfolk
Start with Alfred's birth certificate which can be ordered from the GRO (http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/) using the reference from the GRO index:
1909 December
JEX, Alfred William, Holbeach, Vol 7a Page 370.
(Do double check to make sure I have copied it correctly)
His dad may possibly have married just before:
1909 September
JEX, William, Holbeach, Vol 7a Page 849
But without the birth certificate for Alfred, you cannot be sure.
Alfred's birth certificate will give you the names of both parents and the mum's maiden name - it will help you to confirm if the above reference relates to the parents' marriage and so obtain their marriage certificate, after which you may be able to find them on census returns.
