The Examination of Mary Davensheet taken on oath this 15th day of February Anno Dom 1732
Who on her oath saith she is about 26 years of age, was never married, was on Wednesday the 17th of January last Delivered of a Female Bastard child since Christened Catherine in the Work house of an in the parish of St. Martin in the Fields and that one John Lindsey now or late a Footman to one Captain Davies who Lodges when in Town in Scollan yard had sometime in or about the month of July last the Carnal Knowledge of her Body in his Bed in the Garret backwards in his said master’s Lodgings where they lay together all night and never before or since and that he the said John Lindsey is the true and only Father of the said Female Bastard Child and no man else.
