Hi

My Grandparents (Harry Beaumont & Catherine Osbourne) were married during WWI (1918) in France. Is there anywhere I can find out any more information?

I don't even know what regiments/services they were in.

If you want to locate their marriage certificate, search the index of Army marriages within British Lines. With the reference, you can order a copy of the certificate via the GRO.

The index mentioned is available on the pay-per-view site, find my past.

Ok so next, the certificate.

Is there a way (or do I need to) narrowing down the date so I can order the cert?

The roll goes from 1914-1925 and just states Boulogne page 26.

Would this be enough?

I imagine you would have to quote both the title of the index and the full details shown in the index unless you want to pay the full price ;)

You should note the index where the information was found, whether birth, marriage or death, dates covered, names only as recorded in the index, place and page. That should be sufficient.

Thanks again guys

That's what I have done.

I've also sent an email to the GRO contain the details and I have asked them if this is enough infomation to obtain the certifcate.

Cheers again

You can order it online in the usual way. Doesn't the system automatically tell you if you haven't entered enough data?

Just an assumption...I've never personally used online ordering for overseas certificates.

This was my worry, even though the marriage was in France with Harry being in the Forces whether it would be classed as an 'Overseas' marriage. Hence my email to the GRO.

It is overseas. No doubt at all about that. Overseas Section deals with everything other than England & Wales civil registrations.
