I'm wondering if some kind person can help me with some look ups. My g-g grandmother, Emily FORSTER is listed in the 1881 census as a widow, living at the School House, Capheaton, with two adult daughters and two lodgers.
My problem is, I dont know her maiden name, or the first name of her husband, and can't find her marriage, or the births of her daughters. All three list their place of birth as Capheaton. I found Emily in the 1851 census as 'wife of stonemason', then found a listing under stonemasons in an 1858 Trade directory :
Forster, G, Capheaton.
It has to be George, I thought, and I've tried looking for him under that name, but still a blank!
