Bedfordshire puzzle

Thomas Naylor Lucas appears as the Curate of Melchbourne in the 1851 census. As he probably only received Holy Orders in Cambridge in 1847 and returned to his native South Carolina (with his wife Sarah, nee Parkinson) where he was an Episcopal Minister probably by 1861. Therefore wondering if there are any records at Bedfordshire Record Offices at to when Thomas & Sarah arrived and left Bedfordshire/Melchbourne. Would he appear in records as officating at any Births, Marriages or Deaths? Are there any Parish minutes at to his coming and going?
