Dear all, if you have anyone buried at Ansley churchyard (the old church, at Church End) it may be worth contacting the church because on a recent visit I noticed many graves had envelopes on them. The letter in the envelope apparently asks people to contact the church to arrange "making safe" the stones in order to comply with insurance requirements. Some of the stones with these messages were kerb-stones. I imagine the implication is that the stones will be removed if not "made safe" - and thus an important resource for family historians could be lost. The notices were also on graves in the more recent area, next to the car park.
