Hi,

Hoping someone may be able to help. I have a Cann family from Launcells, Cornwall. Eldest child, Ann, born 1810 disappears. I found an Ann Cann on the 1841 census, St. Andrew, Plymouth. Could not find her in 1851 so assumed she married or died.

Following other family members, two sisters to Ann were found in Plymouth for the 1851 census. 1861 has one sister living with mother, Mary in Plymouth, the other one has died.

Finally found what may be the mother, Mary Cann in Jersey in 1851. Details seem to fit. She is living with Edwin and Ann Prout. Edwin born England, Ann born Cornwall.

Are there any resources available to find a potential marriage between Ann Cann and Edwin Prout between 1841 and 1851 in Devon?

This appears to be the only way I can connect Ann Prout to Ann Cann.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Judy

Hi Canadian Judy,
I have a link to the CANN family, but with an Australian Dynasty.
George CANN born ? maried ?
Had 2 children :
John CANN born Abt. 1821 Devonshire England UK died 18 Apr 1883 Muttaburra Qld Australia
and
Edwin CANN born Abt. 1839 Devonshire England UK died Muttaburra Qld Australia

John Cann emigrated to Adelaide South Australia with wife Ann Agnes HOLMAN and then they went to the gold fields in Blackwood Victoria where they established a supply system for food, transport and accommodation for the miners. A dynasty evolved and then the parents on retirement moved up to Qld where a brother was a drover. John died in a drowning accident in a local farm dam.
