i have been researching my garbett family tree and have found on census and a marriage certificate that my nans father came from alverley he was 9 on census he married rebecca rudge in bridgnorth in 1918 he was called jamesknowles and lived at low lane alverley the wording on certificate arent brilliantly clear for rebeccas name i can just make out something cottage alverly.
my nan elsie was born in highly in 1921 at barke street i guess she must of moved to westbromwich for work ive got no record of any brothers or sisters for her as yet any info would be great.she married my grandad raymond garbett at sandwell registry office in1941 they went on to have my dad john garbett in1946.i would love anyone who may know something of these names or history of the village to get in touch thankyou
