Lee or Hixson from Britain to USA

Would anyone know if these are indeed British last names? From what I can tell from reading the family bible and letters written to various family members from the early 1800's the Lee family moved to Virginia from Winchester, England. I'm not sure about the Hixson family though. Just trying to find some information regarding the last names origin, thanks!

I am resaearching Hixsons and they come from Swansea, South Wales . They start there is 1801 when Nicholas Hixson married in Swansea . no one can decide where he came from, but it is a North of England name ( Eg Yorkshire ) so possibly from there . The Hixsons from soth Wales had a reputation as being smugglers! All quite respectable now !
