I am hoping that someone can help me get over this brick wall. I have searched census returns on line and also the Durham records on line but to no avail.

I have a George Anderson born 1825 in Houghton-le-Spring (Newbottle). I believe that his parents were George Anderson (1783 or 1791) born in Lanchester, and Ann ??? (1792) born in Gateshead (Whickham).

I cannot find either of the George’s or Ann in the 1841 census returns, although George senior returns in the 1851 census returns for Gateshead with George senior giving a birth date of 1791. He is a widower.

I would welcome any help with this please.

Regards,

Therra

Hello Annie,

Thank you for the information which does answer my question. THe birth dates are not the same as I have but then for the 1841 census didn't they have to give "within five years" for some ages?

I have searched Durham on Line records but have been unable to locate the marriage information on George and Ann. Are there any other records on line that I can research?

Thank you for your help with this.

Regards,

Therra
