Hi i have a pic of my grandad b 1885 bow london in a tower hamlets volunteer rifles uniform. i have been told it is pre 1908 as they changed the uniform then. i can only assume he was in the Boar war and lied about his age. he mentioned to my mum going to/through Egypt at some point. i have tried the NA and nothing relating to him survives. can anyone shed any light on the regiments movements between 1900 and 1908? i think it would be the 2nd Bn in that period but am happy to be corrected. i will try and atach the pic for reference.
many thanks Helen

The attachment didn't work......have you tried Documentsonline for a WW1 medal card?
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/

Does he appear in the WW1 National Roll of Honour (despite its name, its coverage is not universal, but it's often worth a try) which is on the pay-per-view site 1837 online

Hi yes i've tried the NA and nothing on 1837 :-( my only hope now is to find out more about the regiment itself and try to match it with family heresay.
cheers Helen
